On the 26th July 2018 at 4.44am our beautiful baby girl, Olivia Laura Chugg was born. Olivia was not well when she was born and so we became the recipients of the services of the NICU at the John Hunter Children's Hospital in Newcastle. Unfortunately, Olivia passed away, but in our darkest moments, we couldn’t believe the support and care that was provided to Olivia, us as parents, her brother and sister, extended family and friends. Every person, nurse, and Doctor we encountered offered an amazing part of the support network.
Since Olivia passed, I have read so much about people going through similar situations and how 6 families across Australia per day lose their baby. This is not including the huge number of babies that are treated by NICU that survive and go on, to live full lives. After being the beneficiary of these services I feel a duty to pay it forward to help the people on the front line who help people like us through the most difficult times of our lives.
When Olivia passed, many people asked me what could they do to help, and we were very lucky to have many people’s support, unfortunately, there is not really anything that can be done to remove the pain of losing a child. However, if you would still like to help, I would greatly appreciate your help to raise money for the NICU in the memory of my daughter, Olivia Laura Chugg, so that maybe others can be supported through, and perhaps prevented from going through such a traumatic life event.
We are inspired by the work of John Hunter Children's Hospital, specifically NICU, and wanted to support them by raising money. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about John Hunter Children's Hospital, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
